Happy Super Bowl Sunday! I’m not really a sports enthusiast, but my husband is a big Seahawks fan so we are going to watch the game together. For me, it’s all about the food: I’ve prepared a fabulous 7-layer dip to serve with tortilla chips, and some meatballs are simmering away in my slow cooker. I can take or leave football, but Super Bowl snacks are definitely something I can get behind.
You know what’s funny? I’ve always identified myself as more of a baker than a cook and I’m still working on building my savoury recipe repertoire. However, my savoury recipes continue to be more popular than my sweet treats here on Devour. For instance, my most popular recipe of all time is my Oven Fried Pickles with Creamy Dill Dip. I love savoury snacks and I am happy to keep making and sharing them here!
Here’s what happened this week:

What I booked:
Our plane tickets to Italy! We’re heading there in September for 2 weeks, and I can hardly wait. I’ve never been outside of North America, Mexico and the Caribbean; the furthest I’ve been is to Hawaii. On top of that, I am a huge art and architectural history nerd, and visiting the birthplace of the Renaissance has always been a dream of mine. Also, Italy is a huge food destination, and I’m looking forward to consuming my body weight in pasta, cheese, bread and Bistecca Fiorentina.
Reader, have you been to Italy? Do you have any recommendations? I have a ton of time to research and plan – which, for me, is half the fun of going anywhere – but I like to hear suggestions from real people. We’re staying in Rome, Venice, and Florence (the typical first-time-in-Italy tourist destinations!), with a few day trips here and there so we can see as much as we can while still leaving some time to relax.
With that, I’ll leave you for another week. I have to go stir my meatballs and get everything ready for kickoff!
