This picture makes me so happy! Like any other good Canadian, I was up bright and early at 5:00am today to watch our men’s hockey team play Sweden in the final and (eventually) win the gold medal. It was definitely worth it, even though the waffles I made totally stuck to the pan and had to be turned into emergency pancakes in order to salvage breakfast. There I go again, always making sporting events about the food.
When it came to watching the game, I will say that I’m not as crazy/devoted/hardcore as some of my friends. The government of Alberta relaxed the liquor laws today so that some bars and pubs could be open by 5:00 and serving alcohol for the game! Being up that early at home in my pyjamas is one thing, but drinking beer in a pub at that ungodly hour is completely another.
Needless to say, I need a nap.
Here’s what happened this week:
What I posted:
I had a bit of an exciting day yesterday when my Broccoli Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Potatoes were featured in a post on Buzzfeed (check it out here). So far, in my blog’s 4-month history, I’ve had some pretty good luck with Foodgawker and other food photography sites, and hopefully the love will continue as I improve my picture-taking skills. I started this blog simply as a fun hobby, but it’s really gratifying to see the word starting to spread and more people starting to check out the site.
That’s all, folks! My eyes are getting heavy. I’ve already had two cups of coffee and I’m contemplating a third, but an afternoon nap is probably the best solution for my fatigue…
Until next time,
