Hi there! I realize I have been MIA for the past week. You see, I was in Vancouver last weekend visiting my parents, and between that trip and being crazily at work this week, I just did not have time to produce any quality content.
I actually planned on sharing a recipe that I made with my mom last weekend: Strawberry Banana Muffins made from the most beautiful local strawberries you have ever seen. Unfortunately, I was not happy with how the photographs turned out, and I couldn’t bring myself to post it. I will definitely make them again and try to take better photos. It just goes to show I still have a whole lot to learn about food photography; I am really only comfortable shooting in my usual spot in my house, and switching it up really threw me off.
Although it pained me to leave the blog untouched for a whole week, I would always rather share things that I am entirely (or at least mostly) happy with. Quality will win over quantity in my books every time.
I had a fabulous time in Vancouver. My mom and I inevitably go shopping every day and spend way too much money (I’m not complaining). My folks just finished fixing up a 100-year-old beach house in Point Roberts, Washington, so we got to hang out on the deck watching the tide come in and out and go traipsing through tidal pools looking for starfish and getting squirted by clams. All-in-all a solid weekend, although it was (as always) too short.
In case you missed a post, here’s what happened the past fortnight:
While I was at my parents’ house, I scoured my mom’s recipe/cookbook cupboard for some of my favourite childhood recipes, including several of my grandma’s recipes scribbled on scraps of paper or clipped from old magazines. My grandma was a wonderful baker, and I can’t wait to share some of her best with you. In fact, there’s a something baking away in my oven as I type that is making my house smell wonderful.
Have a fantastic week! Until next time,
